Not enjoying the age of noise

A quarter century post millennium

The milenium rolled over with a collective sigh of relief over Y2K, but cut short by 9/11 and the ensuing wars in the Middle East, this optimism was, perhaps, optimistic.

Then came 2008, when the unregulated mortgage market that was leveraged through the nose collapsed, crashing the global economy. The 2010s began with an austerity hangover and university students practically going to war with the government over tripled tuition fees.

The 2012 Olympics came and went - during which the whole country convinced itself everything was brilliant, before completely tearing ourselves apart over a 2016 brexit referendum.

What ensued has been political madness, with prime ministers swapping like a Shein trend. A global pandemic followed, and now we find ourselves back with war in the Middle East and religion and culture driving divisions in our society.

So, to be 25 again, eh? What year, post millennial, would it be best to live as a 25 year old?
